StarTalk All-Stars Panel at Star Trek Mission New York

I participated in my first Con ever this past weekend at Star Trek Mission New York! (Yes, I was a late blooming nerd.)

I had a ridiculously fun time all weekend, but especially as part of a StarTalk panel on The Science of Star Trek. Hosted by StarTalk All-Star (and my good friend and colleague) Charles Liu, the panel also included comedian Chuck Nice and author Andrew Fazekas. Rather than repeat the science of warp drives, transporters, and phasers (which get talked about enough), we focused more on the science of our universe and how it relates to the world Gene Roddenberry created. Topics included: exoplanets, spacetime, wormholes, gravitational waves, etc.

My favorite moment was probably when I got to demonstrate a wormhole via the pen through a folded piece of paper trick (ala Interstellar and many, many sci-fi scenes before it).

Thanks to everyone who came out, including the several awesome people who came up to me throughout the weekend to say how much they enjoyed the panel (squee). Everything was recorded for a future StarTalk podcast so stay tuned...!
